All projects created on Overleaf are private by default, and only invited collaborators can access them. You can choose to grant either read-only or read-and-edit access to each invited collaborator via the Share menu.

Overleaf also provides a 'link sharing' feature that is useful for sharing access with a group, but it is turned off by default. If you turn on link sharing for a project, it gets two unique random links that you can share, one for read-only access and one for read-and-write access. If you're using a shared computer and are using link sharing, you should be sure to clear your browser history to keep the secret links secret.

If you have other questions about privacy and security, you can find out more in our privacy and security policies.
